Frequently Asked Questions

Should I sign up online?

Walk ins are always welcome, however we recommend you pre-register online as our classes do tend to fill up. Try to arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of time if it is your first time to the studio to introduce yourself to the instructor and give us a chance to identify your specific needs.

What do I need to bring?

We provide both pilates and yoga mats at no charge, but you are welcome to bring your own. All classes are barefoot. Clothing that is breathable and moveable. No shoes needed for any classes.

How many people are in a class?

RIO’s philosophy involves maintaining small class sizes so students can benefit from close instruction, personalization and familiarity. Classes are capped at 9-15 depending on the style of workout.

Do I need to be in shape? What are the best classes for beginners or if I have injuries?

RIO’s classes are designed to challenge you in a safe and effective way. We welcome all fitness levels, and offer modifications in every class. Always go at your own pace, but be prepared to SWEAT! We suggest you read the class descriptions online so you know what class you will be walking into.

Our Reform classes are a great starting point for beginners, and we always highly suggest a one on one training for pilates or strength classes to understand the concepts behind the moves. Pilates is great for rehabilitating injuries and we have classes catered to this as well. If you are new to a class, inform the teacher of any injuries or concerns you might have and they will ensure we take extra special care of you. Feel free to send us an email inquiring about class offerings at whatsrockin@riopilatesyogastudio.ca

Is there parking available?

Agricola + Charles St each have free 2 hour parking alongside them. Arrive a bit early, especially in the winter months to ensure a parking space. There is a parking lot across the street on weekends with access to free parking.

Will I be penalized for late cancelling class?

Due to our small class sizes we sometimes have waitlists for our classes. If you have to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible, and always send us an email in a case of emergency. Our cancellation policy requires classes to be cancelled online no later than 5pm the day before scheduled class. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged a $10 late fee or one class will be deducted from their pass.
